Vinyl Graphics Application Instructions

Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be considered dirty and should be cleaned prior to the application of graphics.  Recommended cleaning procedures for specific surfaces are listed below.

• Plastics & Glass
  Saturate a clean cloth with a 2 to 1 mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol and wipe with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
  
• Painted Metals and Base Metals
  These surfaces must be cleaned with a solvent such as DuPont Prep-Sol Cleaning Solvent 39195.  Dry the surface with a lint-free cloth before the solvent evaporates.  Freshly painted surfaces must be dried one week prior to application.
  
• Interior Painted Surfaces
  Paint must be dried one week prior to application of markings.  Clean the area where the markings are to be applied with a household cleaner such as Formula 409.  RINSE and thoroughly dry.

Temperature Requirements
Air and application surface temperatures must be above 40 degrees F for non-reflective and 55degrees F for reflective markings.

Application Instructions

Step 1 Use 1" - 2" strips of masking tape to position the graphic in proper registry.
Step 2 Apply horizontal tape hinge at top of graphic.
Step 3 Remove liner entirely and allow graphic to drape.  Using firm initial squeegee pressure, begin at top center and work down and outward to each edge of the mask.
Step 4 Remove premask at 180 degrees (pull back on itself), and resqueegee entire graphic.

For Small Graphics (less than 10" length)
When applying decals and graphics which are small in size, it is best to omit steps 1 and 2 listed above.  Decals of such small size are easily applied without a tape hinge to hold the graphic in place.

Application is best when the entire liner is removed and the graphic is placed as one unit.  Air pressure should be forced out from the center, toward the edges.  Very small graphics can be applied with pressure from your finger.
